Privacy policy
Last updated 20 October 2026
Draft. This page is being reviewed and may change before Rent Rig starts charging.
This policy explains what information Rent Rig ([Company legal name, e.g. Rent Rig LLC]) handles, why, and how it is protected. It covers the businesses that use Rent Rig and their staff, and the renters whose details those businesses record.
Information we handle
- Account details: names, email addresses and phone numbers of business owners and staff, and their passwords (stored only in hashed form).
- Business records: equipment, rates, rentals, bookings, payments recorded, settings and the rental agreement wording.
- Renters' details, recorded by the rental business: name, address, email, phone, date of birth, a photo of their driver license or ID, the last four characters of the license number, signatures, and return photos.
- Technical information: basic logs such as sign-in times and errors, used to keep the service secure and working.
Why we use it
Only to provide Rent Rig: storing records, producing agreements and receipts, sending the emails a business has switched on, and keeping accounts secure. We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or share it except as described here.
Renters
If you rented equipment from a business that uses Rent Rig, that business decides what is collected about you and is responsible for it. We store it on their behalf. To see, correct or delete your information, contact the rental business; we will help them respond.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of service providers, each bound to protect the information and use it only for us:
- Supabase, for the database, sign-in and file storage
- Our website host, to serve the website
- An email delivery service, to send the customer emails a business switches on
- A payment company, for Rent Rig subscriptions (when billing launches)
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How it is protected
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Each business's data is walled off from every other business by rules in the database itself.
- ID photos and documents are stored privately and shown only through short-lived links to the business's own team.
- Within a business, roles limit what staff can do.
How long it is kept
Business records are kept while the account exists. When a business deletes its account, its records and files are deleted straight away. Copies in backups are removed as the backups expire.
Your choices and rights
Business owners can export or delete their data from Settings. Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have rights to know, correct or delete personal information. Contact [support email, e.g. support@rentrig.io] and we will respond, or pass the request to the rental business if it is about their records.
Children
Rent Rig is for businesses and is not meant for children. Renters must be adults under their rental agreement.
Changes and contact
We will post changes here and tell account owners about important ones. Questions: [support email, e.g. support@rentrig.io], or [Company legal name, e.g. Rent Rig LLC], [Mailing address].
